Former OpenAI safety lead David Robinson attacks company culture after quitting
David Robinson, who led safety report writing for major OpenAI product releases, has resigned after 3.5 years and criticised what he described as problems in the company’s safety culture. He faulted OpenAI’s iterative deployment approach, warning that risks rise as systems grow more capable. He cited incidents disclosed by OpenAI during an internal cybersecurity review. OpenAI, through spokesperson Drew Pusateri, rejected the criticism and said it controls development and strengthens safeguards.
