Hound13 rejects Webzen \'Dragon Sword\' lawsuit, says contract terminated over unpaid MG
Hound13, the developer of the new game \'Dragon Sword\', rejected Webzen\'s request for an injunction to block it from self-publishing. Hound13 said Webzen failed to meet its obligation to pay a minimum guarantee under their publishing contract. It said it lawfully terminated the contract on Feb. 13 under the agreed procedures and has independent rights to service the game, including preparing a Steam release.

Warning signs are mounting for small and midsize game developers in South Korea, with setbacks ranging from PixelTribe’s shutdown and bankruptcy to CloverGames’ corporate bankruptcy filing and a publishing dispute between Hound13 and Webzen. Webzen-Hound13 dispute widens over \'Dragon Sword\' service suspension
A dispute between developer Hound13 and publisher Webzen over the open-world collectible action RPG \'Dragon Sword\' has escalated, with both sides issuing competing accounts of contract payments, release schedule changes and proposed additional investment. Hound13 said it did not receive the remaining 60 percent of the minimum guarantee and cited remarks about service suspension as a trigger for terminating the deal. Webzen said it views the termination notice and public announcement as serious and will refund payments after service responses stopped.
