Agility unveils new humanoid Digit 5 that stops and crouches when people approach
Agility Robotics has unveiled its next-generation humanoid robot, Digit 5, designed to slow or stop when it detects nearby people and to crouch and switch off its motors if someone keeps approaching. The company said the added safety functions aim to reduce the need for physical safety barriers so robots can work in the same space as humans. Agility said it has deployed Digit robots at nine customer facilities in North America and secured multi-year orders exceeding $300 million for Digit 5.
