SolomonLabs hires Stripe alumnus Lee Changheon to develop U.S. tax planning AI agent
AI-based tax automation company SolomonLabs said on Wednesday it has hired Lee Changheon, a former project lead at global payments platform Stripe, to launch an AI agent that builds tax-saving strategies. Lee previously built financial infrastructure for regulated industries at Stripe and later developed a factory yield improvement system at Boston Consulting Group combining machine learning and AI agents. SolomonLabs plans to launch Solomon Tax Planning AI in the fourth quarter.

Physical AI firm Carbonsix raises $40 million in Series A funding
Carbonsix, a physical AI company targeting manufacturers, said on Wednesday it raised $40 million (60 billion won) in a Series A round from Korean and U.S. venture capital firms including DSC Investment, LB Investment, IMM, KDB, SV Investment, Cortentia and A Squared. The company develops robot AI products and automation technology that can be deployed directly at manufacturing sites. It said its approach builds a data flywheel through tool use, data accumulation and model improvement.

Mobility platforms return to profitability amid intensifying margin battle
South Korea’s three mobility platforms improved profitability last year, led by Socar’s operating profit of 23.2 billion won and TMAP Mobility’s first annual net profit of 23.3 billion won. Kakao Mobility also raised profitability by close to 20 percent. The companies cut or reshuffled non-core operations and expanded data- and AI-based revenue models. Each is now focusing on core strengths, including car sharing, data expansion and physical AI and autonomous driving.
