Project lead Lee Changheon

AI-based tax automation company SolomonLabs said on Wednesday it has hired Lee Changheon (이창헌), a former project lead at global payments platform Stripe, to launch an AI agent that builds tax-saving strategies.

Lee built financial infrastructure for regulated industries at Stripe, including the virtual asset industry and remittance and deposit-taking businesses. He later developed a factory yield improvement system at Boston Consulting Group (BCG) that combined machine learning with AI agents, based on corporate production data.

Solomon Tax Planning AI, overseen by Lee, expands SolomonLabs' existing tax return preparation automation solution into tax planning. It is scheduled for launch in the fourth quarter of this year.

The tax planning AI analyzes past tax returns and information such as income, investments and retirement accounts to propose tailored strategies for each customer. It provides additional detailed explanations including expected tax costs, long-term tax-saving effects, risks and execution procedures. SolomonLabs' in-house tax calculation engine can compare and verify effects before and after strategy execution and over the mid to long term, while certified public accountants and financial planners handle final strategy selection and delivery to customers.

Lee plans to apply his infrastructure-building experience in regulated industries to addressing complex tax rules, and to build a data flywheel structure in which the solution becomes more sophisticated as data accumulates.

Lee said, "Taxation is an area that needs to analyze complex regulations together with a customer's financial situation and provide grounds for experts to make responsible judgments." He added, "Based on my experience developing AI systems using regulation-focused financial infrastructure and real industrial data, I will build an AI agent that customers can trust and verify."
