Samsung, SK hynix push upgrades at China NAND plants as YMTC closes in

Samsung Electronics and SK hynix are moving to upgrade technology at their NAND flash plants in China as storage demand rises from AI data centres and YMTC\'s market share climbs quickly. Samsung is seeking to shift processes at its Xi\'an plant to produce 286-layer V9 NAND, while SK hynix is accelerating equipment upgrades in Dalian to target production of 240 layers or more. The plans must proceed within U.S. export controls, with approval for equipment still a key variable.
