Stablecoin land grab by financial firms as digital asset framework law delayed
With legislation on South Korea\'s Digital Asset Framework Act delayed, traditional financial firms are moving to secure a foothold in the stablecoin market. Banks and card companies are signing MOUs with global blockchain and payment infrastructure firms and conducting proof-of-concept tests. Hana Financial to work with Circle, Crypto.com on payment marketing for foreign visitors
Hana Financial Group said on Wednesday it will build a won-based stablecoin partnership to lead the digital asset ecosystem and expand cooperation with global digital asset firms. Hana Card will work with affiliates of USDC issuer Circle and with Crypto.com to market domestic payments to foreign visitors to South Korea from this month. It will offer 5 percent cashback in CRO for eligible purchases at local merchants.

Trump Media considers spinning off Truth Social to focus on crypto business
Trump Media & Technology Group is considering separating its social media platform Truth Social into a separately listed entity as it seeks to refocus its core business around cryptocurrencies, the company said. It disclosed it is in talks with TAE Technologies and Texas Ventures Acquisition Corp III. The discussions are based on a merger deal signed with TAE in December. The company also said it posted a 2025 loss of $712.3 million.
