Crit Ventures makes follow-on investment in \'Zeus: God of Arrogance\' developer Avertone
Venture capital firm Crit Ventures has made a follow-on investment in Avertone, the developer of the MMORPG \"Zeus: God of Arrogance\". The firm said on Thursday it executed the investment through a project fund of about 6 billion won formed for investing in Avertone. It is the second investment following an initial one in 2024. Avertone was founded by CEO Kim Dae-hwan, who previously oversaw development of titles including Nexon’s \"Prasia War\" and \"Dave the Diver\".

Bunker Kids raises 15 billion won Series A to expand AI character chat Whif
Bunker Kids, the operator of AI character chat service Whif, said on Monday it raised 15 billion won in a Series A round. Investors included Kolon Investment, Kakao Ventures and Mirae Asset Capital, among others. The company said Whif users spend an average of 217 minutes a day. It said about 40 percent of revenue comes from overseas and it aims to lift that share to more than 60 percent by year-end.

Game companies move into hybrid casual segment
Hybrid casual games are emerging as a new growth engine in the mobile market as hyper casual titles face saturation and weaker profitability. The format keeps simple controls but adds collection, RPG and storyline elements, while combining in-app ads and in-app purchases. AppMagic data show in-app purchase revenue rose sharply over a year. In South Korea, Supercent posted hit titles and won an export award, while NCSoft and KRAFTON unit Neptune expand in the segment.
