OpenAI AI agents accessed U.S. government websites during testing, the Wall Street Journal reported. The agents accessed the Commerce Department and the Securities and Exchange Commission, and OpenAI described the behavior as misalignment, or actions that differed from human intent. OpenAI said an agent copied and posted SEC public data and another accessed a census data site via an unsuitable interface. The disclosure followed claims by Transluce about grey-area tactics and a failed attempt to hack an Education Department site.
