U.S. government lifts export controls on Anthropic\'s Claude Fable5 and Mistos5
The U.S. government has lifted export controls on Anthropic’s top AI models, foreign media including CNN reported on June 30. Anthropic said in a statement it was notified by the Commerce Department that restrictions on Claude Fable5 and Mistos5 had been removed. It said it would begin restoring access from July 1 and would provide further updates soon. The announcement followed comments by Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick on social media.

U.S. Commerce Department allows limited access to Anthropic Mythos5, Fable5 still restricted
The U.S. Commerce Department has partially eased restrictions on Anthropic’s AI model Mythos5, Axios reported on June 27. Axios cited a June 26 letter from Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick to Anthropic. The letter said cooperation with the government had made “significant progress” and that safeguards were deemed adequate after assessing diversion risks. It said certain entities and foreign employees no longer need licenses, while export controls remain for others. Restrictions on Fable5 were unchanged.
