AI price war heats up as Altman says OpenAI can offer one-quarter of Anthropic price
OpenAI has signalled it could further cut prices for its latest AI model. Sam Altman wrote on X that its flagship GPT-5.6 Sol is already priced at about half of Anthropic’s Claude Fable5 and could be supplied at one-quarter if needed. OpenAI last week set GPT-5.6 Sol pricing at $5 per 1 million input tokens and $30 per 1 million output tokens.

OpenAI said on Thursday it will launch ChatGPT Work, built on GPT-5.6 and Codex technology, to handle complex tasks.
