Alibaba releases open-source AI model that can run on MacBook

Alibaba has released an open-source multimodal AI model, Qwen3.8-27B, optimised for local use, including its weights under an Apache 2.0 licence. The company also plans to publish weights for its top model, Qwen3.8-2.4T-A95B, letting developers choose between lightweight local models and frontier-grade agent tasks. Alibaba says Qwen3.8-27B can run on high-end MacBook Pro or Mac Studio systems and supports up to 1,000,000 tokens with YaRN.

Krafton is expected to post a sharp improvement in second-quarter results, helped by steady growth in PUBG: Battlegrounds on PC and faster-than-expected early success for Subnautica 2. Consensus estimates put revenue at 1.19 trillion won and operating profit at 367.1 billion won, up 80.2 percent and 49.2 percent from a year earlier. Analysts cite strong Steam metrics for PUBG and millions of Subnautica 2 copies sold soon after launch.

Xiaomi open-sources terminal-based AI coding tool MiMo Code, claims it beats Claude Code

Xiaomi\'s MiMo AI team has released the terminal-based AI coding tool MiMo Code V0.1.0 as open source, VentureBeat reported. Xiaomi said the tool showed stronger performance than Anthropic\'s Claude Code on key agentic coding benchmarks, particularly on multi-step tasks of more than 200 stages. Xiaomi said it built MiMo Code by forking the open-source agent OpenCode and adding its own memory architecture and workflow mode.
