Bloomberg reported it is being developed as a portable, display-free smart speaker using high-end metal materials, with a built-in battery and donut shape about the size of a hockey puck. OpenAI adds new voice mode to ChatGPT desktop app
OpenAI has added a voice feature to its ChatGPT desktop app, TechCrunch reported on July 24. Users can now operate ChatGPT by speaking to control AI agents and perform tasks on a computer. The feature is based on a new voice model family, ChatGPT-Live, unveiled earlier this month. The desktop version supports multi-step commands and allows users to respond if ChatGPT requests more input.

Anthropic has added a model selection feature to Claude voice mode, allowing users to choose Opus, Sonnet or Haiku. TechCrunch reported the update carries over the last model used in text chat and defaults to the fastest version of that model. The service now supports longer conversations and feedback on communication style, reviewing customer proposals and organising product market research ideas. It also supports integrations with apps including Gmail, Google Calendar, Slack, Canva and Notion.
