[DigitalToday reporter Chi-gyu Hwang (황치규)] Anthropic has added an Opus, Sonnet and Haiku selection feature to Claude voice mode. TechCrunch reported on July 23 that, with the update, Claude voice mode carries over the model last used in text chat and uses the fastest version of that model by default.
Claude voice mode was launched last year based on the Haiku model. Response speed was fast, but it had limitations on complex tasks. With the update, users can sustain longer conversations while receiving feedback on their communication style, review the content of customer proposals and organise product market research ideas.
It also supports integration with other apps. Users can connect it to Gmail, Google Calendar, Slack, Canva and Notion to request by voice tasks such as rescheduling meetings, drafting emails and creating Notion documents.
TechCrunch said this differs from OpenAI, which recently updated the conversation style of ChatGPT voice mode. ChatGPT voice mode does not yet support handling work by using multiple tools.
Claude voice mode currently supports English, French, German, Hindi, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Brazilian Portuguese and Spanish.
The new voice mode is available in beta on all platforms. Free users can use only the Haiku model, and the number of apps they can connect is limited to 1.
