KT to expand physical AI deployment in industry, pursue dark factory pilot

KT is expanding efforts to apply physical AI at industrial sites by identifying business candidates across six sectors including manufacturing, defense and logistics. It introduced sector-specific tasks and its commercialization approach at Physical AI Tech Week in Seoul. The Vertical Industry Bridge group has found 26 candidate projects and plans to select four this year for linkage with a National Growth Fund and a government pilot program. KT also showcased edge AI and is pursuing a dark factory platform with KAIST and Daim Research.

Ryu Je-myeong says industry-academia-research cooperation essential to boost physical AI competitiveness

Ryu Je-myeong (류제명), second vice minister of South Korea\'s Ministry of Science and ICT, attended the Physical AI Tech Day event in Seoul on Tuesday and stressed the importance of cooperation among industry, academia and research institutions. The event, themed \"Intelligence into Action,\" brings together experts to share trends and development directions in physical AI. Ryu also toured exhibits, including AI semiconductors, factory optimisation and collaborative robots and humanoids.

Bae Kyung-hoon urges South Korea to raise goals, investment for physical AI

Deputy Prime Minister and Science Minister Bae Kyung-hoon said South Korea should reassess whether its current targets and investment for physical AI are sufficient to secure top-tier global competitiveness. He urged setting the highest possible goals with a three- to five-year outlook as AI advances faster than expected. The government plans to invest 3.1 trillion won in physical AI next year, more than triple this year’s 900 billion won.
