Krafton Chairman Jang Byung-gyu (장병규) stressed to entrepreneurs the importance of choosing to leave familiar territory to find new possibilities.

Krafton said on Oct. 29 that Jang delivered a keynote speech titled "Expansion to Infinity" at the 2026 Chung Ju-yung Startup Competition Demo Day held at COEX in Seoul on Oct. 28.

Jang introduced how he expanded his possibilities through his career path, startups and global business experience.

He cited his experience of studying mathematics in college before feeling its limits and changing course. He said giving up an existing choice and switching direction to another path is also a process of opening new possibilities. He also shared his experience of focusing on club activities and software development.

He also pointed to the process of co-founding Neowiz and leaving the company. He said the experience of building a business with colleagues became a driver of growth, and the decision to leave a company he had been with for about 10 years was also a choice to step out of a familiar environment.

He also stressed his experience in global markets. Jang said experience gained while running North American service for "TERA" became the basis for later judging the global potential of "PUBG: Battlegrounds."

He also mentioned the importance of "heritage," which respects creators' originality and carries it on and develops it further.

As for Krafton's future business direction, he introduced that the company is challenging new AI businesses in addition to its existing game business and physical AI. He described it as a process of seeking opportunities in new areas beyond familiar business domains.

Jang said, "Possibility begins with getting out of a comfortable place," and added, "I, too, am working to open up more possibilities by leaving my comfort zone."

The Chung Ju-yung Startup Competition is a startup support program hosted by the Asan Nanum Foundation and marks its 15th year this year. This year's event was held under the theme of "Infinite," inspired by a saying of Chung Ju-yung, founder of Hyundai Group: "Human potential is infinite."
