Huawei aims for 1.4 nm chip density by 2031, unveils new design principle
Huawei has set a goal of developing advanced chips at a 1.4 nanometre process level by 2031 and unveiled a new chip design principle it calls the Tau Scaling Law. Bloomberg News reported the company said at a Shanghai semiconductor symposium it aims to make industry-leading semiconductors within the next five years, but did not provide independent performance data. The approach seeks performance gains by reducing signal and data movement time inside chips and systems.

SEC commissioner says synthetic tokens will not be allowed under tokenised securities rules
A U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission commissioner moved to clarify a yet-to-be-published rule after debate over whether planned tokenised securities rules would allow synthetic tokens. Hester Peirce, who leads the SEC’s crypto task force, said the forthcoming rule will not open the door to tokenised synthetic securities issued by third parties that reference securities but carry no actual rights such as equity or voting rights. She said the rule’s scope is limited.

SAP invests in workflow automation tool n8n, to integrate into AI agent builder
Business software company SAP has invested in workflow automation platform n8n, Bloomberg News reported on May 13. The investment lifts n8n\'s valuation to about $5.2 billion, double its level at the time of an October investment last year. SAP also signed a multi-year contract to embed n8n tools into its AI agent builder, Joule Studio. n8n\'s CEO said the deal was a secondary transaction enabling some early investors to sell shares.
