Ethereum layer2 Base resumes block production after two-hour outage
Base, an Ethereum layer2 network backed by Coinbase, resumed block production after stopping for about two hours due to a consensus issue. Cointelegraph reported on June 26 that blocks were being produced normally after the outage. The Base team said an incorrect block was sequenced because of the consensus problem, which halted new block creation. Founder Jesse Pollak said funds on the network were safe.

Base\'s Beryl upgrade nears, native token standard B20 to be introduced
Base, an Ethereum layer-2 network backed by Coinbase, has deployed its second upgrade, Beryl, to the Base Sepolia testnet, The Block reported. Mainnet activation is scheduled for June 25. The Base engineering team said Beryl introduces B20, a native token standard that enables direct issuance of assets such as stablecoins within node software. Standard withdrawal latency to Ethereum will be cut to 5 days from 7 days.
