Berachain hard fork ends dual-token model, shifts to WBERA rewards
Berachain is ending its dual-token incentive structure as part of the first phase of its PoL Next upgrade and shifting to a WBERA-based rewards system. Cointelegraph reported on July 8 local time that Berachain will stop issuing its Bera governance token, BGT, through a hard fork scheduled for 1600 UTC on July 9. After the upgrade, the network will distribute fixed-supply WBERA as block rewards instead of BGT.

Solv Protocol ends LayerZero support, selects Chainlink CCIP for bridge infrastructure
Solv Protocol, a Bitcoin-focused DeFi project, is switching its cross-chain infrastructure from LayerZero to Chainlink. The project is phasing out LayerZero support for SolvBTC and xSolvBTC on Corn, Berachain, Rootstock and TAC, and has selected Chainlink CCIP as its official cross-chain infrastructure. Solv said it reviewed its existing bridge after recent security incidents and concluded CCIP offers the strongest security through reinforced architecture, risk controls and pre-monitoring.

Greenlane appoints Jason Hitchcock as new CEO, accelerates VERA token accumulation
Nasdaq-listed Greenlane Holdings is pushing ahead with a BERAchain-based Digital Asset Treasury strategy by bringing in Jason Hitchcock, who has built a career in decentralised finance. The company said on Feb. 20 it appointed Hitchcock, formerly head of business development at web3 infrastructure platform thirdweb, as its new CEO. Greenlane said he will support governance, disclosure and risk standards while advancing validator, staking and liquidity initiatives to accelerate BERA accumulation.
