Musk says SpaceX to cast key gas turbine parts to ease AI power bottlenecks
Elon Musk says SpaceX will directly cast key gas turbine components to reduce power-supply bottlenecks for AI infrastructure. A secret foundry in Bastrop, Texas is known as a facility to make turbine blades and vanes. Musk says solar capacity is being built rapidly at SpaceX and Tesla, but natural gas will be needed for several years. The move comes as data centres face constraints from power grids and turbine supply limits, amid rising concerns over air pollution and health impacts.

Low maternal vitamin D can affect fetus immunity and pass on gut microbes
An analysis found that a pregnant mother’s nutritional status can influence not only fetal bone health but also lifelong immune function and the formation of the gut microbiome. Because a fetus cannot produce vitamin D, the mother’s blood vitamin D level is directly reflected in the baby. It noted that 1 in 4 pregnant or breastfeeding women is vitamin D deficient. A researcher outlined potential risks and practical steps, including testing and supplementation with medical advice.

Faster shift to electric vehicles could cut 108,400 early deaths by 2050, U.S. study finds
A faster rollout of electric vehicles could significantly improve public health as well as help tackle climate change, a study has found. The International Council on Clean Transportation said shifting the U.S. road transport system to zero-emission vehicles could cut 108,400 early deaths and 42,100 new cases of childhood asthma by 2050. The report said air pollution from road traffic causes more than 41,800 early deaths a year in the United States.
