Sam Altman backs South Korea\'s \'AI for all\' vision, says infrastructure role is key
OpenAI CEO Sam Altman voiced support for the South Korean government\'s \"AI for all\" vision and said it requires bold investment in AI infrastructure. Speaking at an AI summit in San Francisco on July 24 local time, Altman said Korea\'s AI infrastructure projects would help the economy and people and play a key role in helping global AI advance to the next stage. He also met President Lee Jae-myung and held talks with SK Group Chairman Chey Tae-won, with a meeting planned with Samsung Electronics Chairman Jay Y. Lee.

Global AI scholars gather in Seoul for Global AI Frontier Symposium
An international symposium bringing together AI researchers and representatives from global companies and research institutes was held in Seoul to discuss the latest research results and industrial applications. The Ministry of Science and ICT and the Institute of Information & Communications Technology Planning & Evaluation hosted the Global AI Frontier Symposium 2026. The event features keynote speeches, a panel discussion on industry-academia-government cooperation, and six specialist tracks covering core AI technologies and use cases.

Agentic AI ecosystem strategy nears release as ministry holds workshop
South Korea\'s Ministry of Science and ICT held a workshop on April 27 to discuss an agentic artificial intelligence ecosystem development strategy it plans to release in the first half of the year. Agentic AI refers to AI that understands complex user commands on its own and carries out tasks. The workshop reviewed the direction for the strategy and ways to produce outcomes from the newly launched national Agentic AI Alliance.
