KOSPI gives up 2% early gain, ends just above 7,000

South Korea\'s KOSPI rose more than 2 percent early on Sept. 22 and briefly topped 7,100, but gave up most gains to finish just above 7,000. The index closed up 0.15 percent at 7,017.91 after opening at 7,161.61. Foreigners were net buyers while individuals widened net selling. Semiconductor heavyweights were mixed. The won strengthened to 1,360.90 per dollar, down 14.10 won.

Cheaper token price can raise total coding AI cost by 14 times, study finds

An experiment found that in coding tasks an AI model with a lower token price can end up costing more to fix bugs. A Fiddler research team compared Anthropic\'s Claude Haiku 4.5 and Claude Sonnet 5 on five Python bug-fix tasks. Across 45 runs per model, Sonnet cost $0.45 while Haiku cost $4. Haiku generated much longer outputs, including results for commands not executed, raising both output and subsequent input token costs.

Coinbase, Circle and Strategy slide as U.S. Clarity bill stalls in Senate

The U.S. Clarity bill, a cryptocurrency market-structure proposal, failed to clear a Senate hurdle, putting the spotlight back on regulatory uncertainty surrounding Coinbase. The bill did not secure the 60 votes needed to open floor debate on Sept. 16, Cointelegraph reported. After the vote, shares of Coinbase, Circle and Strategy fell 5 to 10 percent and remained weak the next day. Analysts also differentiated impacts across firms, while tokenisation expectations, staking-driven returns and security concerns around AI drew attention.
