Meta, YouTube lose social media addiction lawsuit as negligence liability recognised
A 20-year-old woman plaintiff won a social media addiction lawsuit against Meta, which operates Instagram, and Google’s YouTube, the Wall Street Journal reported on Tuesday. A jury found the companies ran products harmful to teenagers and failed to warn about the risks, recognising negligence liability. The jury awarded the plaintiff, Kaylee G.M., $3 million and ordered an additional $3 million in punitive damages.
