K-STAR verifies blockchain-based digital local currency with BNK Busan Bank
K-STAR, a technology alliance for a won stablecoin-based digital currency infrastructure involving AhnLab Blockchain Company, said on Sunday it completed a proof of concept with BNK Busan Bank to verify blockchain-based payment and settlement infrastructure for digitising local currency. The project aimed to implement an end-to-end policy-based local currency with embedded conditions such as usage locations and validity periods, and to test operational feasibility in a real financial environment.

AhnLab Blockchain Company launches ABC Cloud Wallet digital asset custody service
AhnLab’s blockchain subsidiary AhnLab Blockchain Company (ABC) has officially opened ABC Cloud Wallet, a custody service supporting the storage and management of digital assets, it said on June 1. The service can be applied for and used online by individuals, companies, institutions and foundations. It is designed to let companies and institutions manage operating authority and policies in line with internal standards, and includes multi-layer security, transaction monitoring and financial linkage expansion.

Stablecoin land grab by financial firms as digital asset framework law delayed
With legislation on South Korea\'s Digital Asset Framework Act delayed, traditional financial firms are moving to secure a foothold in the stablecoin market. Banks and card companies are signing MOUs with global blockchain and payment infrastructure firms and conducting proof-of-concept tests. Several bills remain pending in the National Assembly, while key rules such as issuance requirements, reserve regulation and user protections are not yet detailed. Industry officials expect rivalry to intensify as delays persist.
