Retail investors quit AI trading bots as Claude, GPT token costs bite
Retail investors are quickly abandoning crypto trading bots built with generative AI, with high inference costs for large language models cited as the main reason. Token spending to keep strategies running is eroding profitability more than the strategies themselves, an analysis said. Many traders stop within about two weeks due to the burden of continuous API calls. Premium models such as GPT-5.4 and Claude Opus can become costly in continuous use, the contributor said.
