MSIT and defense ministry to recruit 43 science and technology officer cadets

South Korea’s Ministry of Science and ICT and the Ministry of National Defense said on Tuesday they will recruit cadets for the 13th undergraduate class, the second master’s class and the third pre-master’s class of the science and technology specialist officer programme through Sept. 14. Candidates complete four semesters of training, earn a degree and finish eight weeks of military training before commissioning and serving three years in defence R&D units.

MakinaRocks first-half sales hit 7 billion won, up 168 percent year-on-year

Physical AI company MakinaRocks said on Thursday its consolidated first-half revenue rose 168 percent from a year earlier to 7 billion won. Its operating loss narrowed 28 percent to 4.2 billion won. New orders in the first half exceeded 20 billion won, more than triple the year-earlier level, and surpassed last year’s full-year total. The company also said its financial structure improved after a KOSDAQ listing in May.

KAIST develops tech to cut sensory confusion and hallucinations in multimodal AI

Researchers in South Korea have developed techniques to reduce cases in which AI confuses multiple sensory inputs or generates nonexistent information. KAIST said a team led by professor Yong-man Ro developed two methods to improve sensor understanding in multimodal large language models and reduce confusion between visual and audio data. The approaches are designed to work with less data or be applied without retraining. KAIST said the technology could be used in autonomous driving, rescue robots, drones and medical AI.
