AWS launches cloud virtual desktop dedicated to AI agents
Amazon Web Services has formally launched a cloud virtual desktop service dedicated to AI agents, Amazon WorkSpaces for Agents, The New Stack reported on June 30. After a public preview, AWS made the service available to general users. The service lets agents operate companies’ legacy desktop applications without separate integration development or system replacement. Agents connect via the Model Context Protocol, with access managed through AWS IAM and audit logs handled by AWS CloudTrail and Amazon CloudWatch.

Semperis to acquire MightyID to boost resilience of cloud identity platform
Semperis, a company specialising in corporate identity protection and cyber resilience, will acquire MightyID. MightyID has technology that prevents downtime and supports business continuity through identity management system backups and automated recovery, including granular restoration of specific identity elements. It also supports migration when switching identity providers and includes failover and resilience features for outages, attacks or malfunctions. Semperis plans to expand identity-centric security and crisis-management capabilities across hybrid Microsoft Active Directory environments.

Hackers recruit backup specialists, time for backup-centred security strategy
Companies specialising in backup solutions are calling for a shift toward backup-centred ransomware defence as attacks evolve. Cohesity, which acquired Veritas, is expanding cyber resilience offerings and says multi-layered backups, including offline and immutable storage, are now essential. The company released survey findings from IT and security leaders, including about 200 South Korean firms, showing cyberattacks affecting forecasts, share prices, budgets and legal exposure, and highlighting management pressure on IT staff in South Korea.
