KakaoBank says financial transaction impersonation most common in first-half smishing texts
KakaoBank said it found that suspected smishing texts impersonating financial transaction notices were the most common among cases received in the first half of this year. The bank analysed 10,024 suspected smishing messages submitted through its AI Smishing Text Check service from January to June. Financial transaction-related smishing accounted for 33 percent, followed by authentication and personal data verification at 28 percent.
