KakaoBank presented financial AI research cases at a global AI event hosted by the UN's International Telecommunication Union. It introduced a technology that integrates AI functions needed for financial services into a single specialised model to cut computing resources and operating costs.

KakaoBank said on July 9 it was invited to the AI for Good Global Summit 2026 held in Geneva, Switzerland, on July 7 local time, where it presented its financial AI research cases.

The global AI event hosted by the UN's International Telecommunication Union runs from July 7 to 10 local time in Geneva, Switzerland. Government, business and academic participants from around the world attended to discuss sustainable AI and ways to use AI responsibly.

KakaoBank was selected as a best practice case, The Winning AI Use Cases, in the Innovate for Impact session. It presented research results aimed at improving the operating efficiency and sustainability of financial AI.

The presentation focused on operating multiple AI functions needed for financial services through a single finance-specialised AI model. It explained that the model is designed to handle tasks such as information retrieval, document analysis and detection of abnormal content, reducing computing resources and operational burden.

Financial AI safety technologies were also included in the event's official outcomes report. The report listed KakaoBank's AI-based smishing detection service, AI Smishing Text Check, and its AI Input Guardrail technology that blocks prompt attacks targeting large language models (LLMs).

A KakaoBank official said, "We find it meaningful to have KakaoBank's financial AI research results introduced as an excellent case on a global stage themed on sustainable AI."
