KakaoTalk to serve as agent gateway, cut AI inference costs by 90 percent
Kakao is integrating AI into KakaoTalk and aims to cut server inference costs by up to 90 percent by handling about half of user requests on smartphones. KakaoAI says its on-device-first design and model routing will keep performance while limiting cost growth as users increase. It also plans smaller server models through distillation. KakaoAI set 2030 targets including revenue above 6 trillion won and AI DAU of 20 million.
