MSIT says AI training data purchases eligible for R&D tax credit

South Korea will include the cost of purchasing data used to train artificial intelligence models in research and development tax credits, the Ministry of Science and ICT said on Monday. A revised enforcement decree of the Restriction of Special Taxation Act was approved at a cabinet meeting and will be promulgated and implemented this month. It will apply to R&D spending incurred from Jan. 1. Small firms can deduct up to 50 percent and mid-sized and large companies up to 40 percent.

Daishin Securities files criminal complaint against former employee over alleged Capital Markets Act breach

Daishin Securities said on Feb. 24 it completed a criminal complaint last year against a former employee suspected of violating the Capital Markets Act and is cooperating with an ongoing investigation by authorities. It said it launched an internal audit in June last year after becoming aware of the allegations, and reported the individual to police based on the findings. The former employee is also suspected of breaching other financial laws and resigned late last year.
