MSIT opens applications for first CODYSSEY practical AI training cohort
South Korea's Ministry of Science and ICT and the Innovation Academy on Tuesday began recruiting trainees for the first intake of the practical AI specialist training programme CODYSSEY. The AI all-in-one course runs for up to 18 months, including a one-month initial training period, and covers core AI skills from programming to deep learning and natural language processing. Applications run through March 23, with 150 to be selected after evaluation.

South Korea science ministry selects 35 teams for 2026 synthetic biology competition finals
South Korea's Ministry of Science and ICT said on Tuesday it has completed the first round of judging for the 2026 synthetic biology competition and confirmed 35 teams for the finals. A total of 104 teams from 37 universities and government-funded research institutes applied. The finalists include 20 undergraduate teams and 15 graduate teams. The ministry will provide initial research funds and expert mentoring, and support participation in iGEM international competitions.

MSIT begins supplying 4,000 GPUs to industry, academia and research; additional call in March
South Korea's Ministry of Science and ICT said on Tuesday it has selected recipients for about 4,000 graphics processing units (GPUs) currently available from 10,000 secured under a first supplementary budget in 2025, and will begin supplying them from March. A total of 514 applications were filed and 159 were selected after review. The ministry said it will monitor usage and reclaim GPUs if they are underused or used for other purposes, and will hold an additional call this month.
