BNK Financial Group reviewed its outlook for the economy and foreign exchange markets in the second half and discussed the role of financial firms in revitalising the regional economy and in marine finance. A proposal also emerged to strengthen the growth base of local companies by linking finance with Busan’s port, shipping, logistics and shipbuilding industries.

BNK Financial said on July 24 it held the BNK Future Vision Forum on July 23 at the Sky Hall of Busan Bank's headquarters, with about 100 executives from affiliates and heads of key departments attending.

Lee Young-hwa (이영화), an economist at Busan Bank, gave a presentation on the outlook for the foreign exchange market in the second half and its implications. The presentation covered exchange rate and oil price forecasts as global economic conditions shift, along with key market variables.

Baek Chung-gi (백충기), a senior research fellow at the Busan-Ulsan-Gyeongnam economic research team, presented on the role of finance in revitalising the regional economy.

In a panel discussion, working-level staff from affiliates discussed financial support measures and cooperation directions to create a foundation for regional shared growth and sustainable growth.

Kim Young-choon (김영춘), a former minister of oceans and fisheries, delivered a special lecture on the era of marine finance and the role of finance.

Kim stressed that finance should be linked to the competitiveness of Busan’s port, shipping, logistics and shipbuilding industries to expand growth opportunities for local companies and build a marine industry ecosystem in which companies, capital and talent circulate in a virtuous cycle.

He also suggested that BNK Financial should expand marine industry-focused finance to support the regional economy.

A BNK Financial Group official said the event was an opportunity to broaden understanding of changes in domestic and overseas economic conditions and to discuss the future of the regional economy and marine finance. The official said the group will continue financial support that can strengthen shared growth with local companies and contribute to revitalising the regional economy.
