PayPal reportedly received takeover approaches amid share slump
PayPal has received takeover approaches from competitors as its share price has struggled for an extended period, a report said. Cointelegraph, citing Bloomberg, reported that PayPal held review meetings with banks in response. One potential buyer is considering acquiring the entire company, while others have shown interest in buying specific assets. Bloomberg said discussions are at an early stage and a deal is uncertain. PayPal shares jumped after the report but remain down 46 percent over the past year.

Anthropic said Chinese AI startups used its Claude model without authorisation to improve their own AI performance, TechCrunch reported. Anthropic alleged DeepSeek, Moonshot AI and MiniMax created more than 24,000 fake accounts and interacted with Claude more than 16 million times, using distillation to mimic its functions. The report also outlined how distillation trains a student model using outputs from a teacher model. Separately, Sam Altman criticised President Donald Trump’s plan to ease AI chip exports.

Uber launches dedicated self-driving unit to focus on providing infrastructure to partners
Uber has launched a new division targeting the autonomous vehicle market, TechCrunch reported on Sunday. The unit, called Uber Autonomous Vehicle Solutions, aims to provide software and support services for operating robo-taxis, self-driving trucks and sidewalk delivery robots. Uber has participated through partnerships after abandoning in-house AV development. An executive said the goal is to help partners cut costs and speed market entry. Uber plans to expand robo-taxi operations to 15 cities by year-end.
