[Digital Today Yoonseo Lee] Solana posted its first monthly gain in about 1 year.

U.Today, a blockchain media outlet, reported on Sept. 1 (local time) that Solana recently closed its monthly candle in positive territory, snapping a long decline in monthly candles that had continued since September 2025.

TradingView data show the latest monthly candle closed around $103. Solana slid from a peak above $250 in late 2025 to a low around $60, but a recent rebound pushed it back above the $100 level, seen as a psychological resistance point. It gained about 40 to 50 percent in August.

Moves by large investors were also detected. On-chain analytics platform Lookonchain pointed to a Solana whale wallet that had been dormant for 8 months buying 76,856 SOL worth about $8 million on Hyperliquid. The trade added to a recent rise in whale transactions around Solana.

Still, it has not been confirmed whether the investor will hold the position for the long term or deploy it for further trading. The market sees it as a sign that deep-pocketed investors are paying attention again, while also viewing the nature of the position as something to watch further.

Short-term price action remains unstable. Solana is trading around $102.47 and is down 1.28 percent over the past 24 hours. That amounts to a pullback soon after regaining the $100 level. It rose 1.15 percent on Aug. 31, but fell 3.54 percent the day before, showing wider swings from early September.

Trading was more concentrated in derivatives than in spot. Over the past 24 hours, Solana futures trading volume was about $7.82 billion, far above spot volume of about $738.76 million. Open interest stood at about $6.64 billion. That is read as meaning traders are building positions aggressively at current price levels.

This structure also raises the possibility of sharp volatility alongside expectations of further gains. If prices fall when futures trading is excessively crowded, liquidations can occur in a chain reaction. The fact that prices slipped again after regaining the $100 level shows that buying has yet to produce a clear additional uptrend.

Solana remains higher than its August low, but in the short term it has entered a phase of a tug of war over direction as three signals align at once: a turn to a monthly gain, futures-led trading, and whale buying. Solana's next direction depends on how much spot buying follows.
