Connectivity cloud company Cloudflare on Tuesday introduced Adaptive Intelligence, a persistent detection engine, to its security platform Cloudflare Bot Management, which detects automated bot traffic and blocks malicious bots.

The company said Adaptive Intelligence learns various signals appearing in real-time traffic based on trillions of requests processed on Cloudflare's global network, and generates detection rules in real time to respond to new threats.

When new attacks or evasion attempts occur, it adjusts defenses accordingly so attackers spend more time and money to keep trying automated attacks.

It supports building an always-on defense system, blocking attackers' repeated attempts, detecting stealthy attacks, identifying malicious activity while protecting legitimate users, and automatically distributing secure security updates.

Dane Knecht (데인 크네히트), Cloudflare's chief technology officer, said, "If the cost of scaling up attacks is effectively close to zero, simply raising the wall of defense has limits. To respond to the latest bot threats, we need to change the structure itself so attackers spend more cost and effort." He added, "Because existing defense systems operate in a consistent way, attackers can repeatedly analyse them and find ways to evade. Cloudflare Adaptive Intelligence, by contrast, constantly changes defenses to quickly invalidate what attackers have learned and blocks attacks before they scale up."
