ETHZilla will change its company name to Forum in its second rebranding in a year, Cointelegraph reported on Feb. 26.
The decision is aimed at abandoning its cryptocurrency-holding strategy and making a full-scale entry into the tokenisation market.
In an official announcement, the company said it will change its name to Forum Markets and plans to change its ticker symbol to FRMM after Nasdaq approval. Cointelegraph reported the rebranding is intended to move away from its existing cryptocurrency-holding strategy and shift into a platform linking traditional capital markets with blockchain financial infrastructure.
McAndrew Rudisill (맥앤드류 루디실), Forum's chairman and CEO, said: "The next-generation financial market will be built around on-chain products backed by real-world assets, and Forum will make this a reality through transparency and regulation."
ETHZilla started as a biotechnology company, 180 Life Sciences, and rebranded as ETHZilla in July last year. At the time, it pursued a cryptocurrency-holding strategy by buying large amounts of Ethereum, but its share price fell by more than 20 percent from $107 as the cryptocurrency market later plunged. The company subsequently shifted its strategy in December last year toward tokenising real-world assets.
