Presidential Chief of Staff Hoon-sik Kang (강훈식) said at a morning briefing on Saturday that President Lee Jae-myung had nominated ministerial candidates for six ministries.

Lee nominated Hyung-il Lee (이형일), the current first vice minister, as deputy prime minister for the economy and finance minister. He named Ji-seon Hong (홍지선), the current second vice minister, as land, infrastructure and transport minister. He nominated So-young Lee (이소영) of the Democratic Party as minister of SMEs and startups. He named Shin-cheol Kang (강신철), former deputy commander of the Combined Forces Command, as defence minister. He nominated Seung-won Kim (김승원) of the Democratic Party as justice minister and Hye-in Yong (용혜인) of the Basic Income Party as gender equality and family minister.

He also appointed Hae-min Lee (이해민) of the Rebuilding Korea Party as senior secretary for AI future planning, a post that had been vacant. He named Jung-woo Ha (하정우), former senior AI secretary, as vice chair of the National AI Strategy Committee, and appointed Kyung-soo Kim (김경수), former South Gyeongsang governor, as special adviser for political affairs. He tapped Won-joo Lee (이원주), director general at the Ministry of Climate and Environment, as presidential aide for megaprojects at Cheong Wa Dae.
