Viewership of crypto-related YouTube content fell for a third straight month, hitting its lowest level since January 2021, Cointelegraph reported on Jan. 12 local time.

According to the report, ITC Crypto founder Benjamin Cowen released 30-day moving-average viewership data across various crypto YouTube channels and pointed out that “changes to the X (Twitter) algorithm are not the only reason.” Engagement for crypto channels is also plunging on X, and an analysis says this reflects waning retail investor interest in a bear market.

YouTube content creator Jesus Martinez said, “I have been growing my channel since early 2022, but I have not experienced the explosive interest of 2021 again.” TikTok creator Cloud9 Market said, “Retail investors are tired from Ponzi altcoin scams and pump-and-dump schemes,” and said they are shifting their attention to precious metals and macroeconomics.
