Neptune said on Thursday it signed a game content supply contract with KakaoPay and will participate as a partner for KakaoPay's "Mini Game" service.

Neptune plans to build a lineup by selecting games suited to KakaoPay users from casual titles based on its own intellectual property and those of partner game companies. It will convert the games to H5 (HTML5) so they can be used in KakaoPay and KakaoTalk without installing a separate application.

KakaoPay Mini Game is a service launched in February. Users can receive KakaoPay points as rewards when they complete missions while playing games.

The H5 games to be supplied will also apply Neptune's mobile advertising monetisation platform AdX, which it operates. AdX runs by automatically serving ads based on the cost per mille (eCPM).

Neptune explained it was selected as a mini game partner after meeting technical requirements demanded by KakaoPay, including stability and security. It will also use its game service operating system, which can respond to KakaoPay user traffic, under this contract.

Neptune previously began an H5 game supply business as a partner for "App in Toss" through a tie-up with Toss in July last year. It currently offers about 30 games, including "Infinite Stairs" and "Cat Snack Bar".

It is also moving to secure H5 games to supply to platforms. Neptune has expanded its supply lineup beyond its own IP to include content from external game companies, including by hosting the "HTML5 Game Challenge" contest.

With the KakaoPay contract, Neptune has added another outlet for its H5 game supply after Toss. Neptune plans to expand partnerships with domestic platform operators.

Kwon Seung-hyun (권승현), head of Neptune's game business division, said, "This contract is the result of recognition of Neptune's competitiveness in H5 game development and its service operating capabilities." He added, "We will expand cooperation with major domestic platforms to broaden the foundation for supplying game content and strengthen the competitiveness of our H5 game business."
