AI service platform company Wrtn Technologies said on Tuesday it raised 100 billion won in Series C funding.
In the round, Wrtn was valued at more than 1 trillion won.
The company said it was the first domestic AI service startup to be valued at more than 1 trillion won. Total funding raised is about 230 billion won.
Coreline Ventures and Eugene Asset Management joined as new investors. Existing investors including Goodwater Capital, Antler Global, Woori Venture Partners, Suisenelis Partners, Korea Development Bank and Capstone Partners also participated.
Wrtn is also speeding up growth in overseas business. AI entertainment content platform OOC, launched in North America in May, surpassed 10 billion won in monthly revenue in three months. Overseas revenue also overtook domestic revenue.
The company expects total revenue this year to exceed 200 billion won based on that overseas growth. Revenue last year was 47.1 billion won.
It is also strengthening user protection policies. Wrtn last month launched a user committee made up of experts in fields including AI ethics and philosophy, cognition and psychology, and law, and is also taking part in drafting the Korea Internet Self-Governance Organization's AI character chatbot service self-regulation guidelines.
For AI entertainment content platform Crack, it is reviewing adoption of protection policies including setting limits on minors' usage time, strengthening parental consent procedures and lowering spending limits. About 10 percent of Crack users are minors.
Wrtn Technologies CEO Se-young Lee (이세영) said, "As a result of establishing ourselves as Korea's leading AI service company over the past five years since founding and proving our global competitiveness, we were able to successfully complete this investment." He added, "We will focus on global expansion and advancing our services to grow faster into a safe and reliable AI service company."
