[Digital Today reporter Sangyeop Oh] The KOSPI sets another record high.

On Jan. 12, the KOSPI ended up 38.47 points, or 0.84 percent, at 4,624.79.

The index opened up 53.57 points, or 1.17 percent, at 4,639.89 and rose to as high as 4,652.54. Gains gradually narrowed and it briefly turned lower before regaining upward momentum.

It topped both the intraday high of 4,622.32 set on Jan. 8 and the record closing high of 4,586.32 set on Jan. 9.

In the main board, individuals maintained buying but switched to net selling near the close. Individuals and foreigners sold a net 100.1 billion won and 352.1 billion won, respectively. Institutions bought 208.9 billion won.

Samsung Electronics ended slightly down at 138,800 won, while SK Hynix finished slightly up at 749,000 won.

Among the top 14 shares by market capitalisation, Hanwha Ocean rose 8.41 percent, Doosan Enerbility gained 4.63 percent and LG Energy Solution added 4.41 percent, leading advances.

The Kosdaq ended up 1.89 points, or 0.20 percent, at 949.81.
