[DigitalToday reporter Yoonseo Lee (이윤서)] Observers say Shiba Inu ecosystem figures Shytoshi Kusama and Kaal Dhairya could make a major announcement this month.

On Aug. 21, blockchain outlet The Crypto Basic reported that Bette Kusama, an ecosystem figure, urged the community on X, formerly Twitter, to turn on notifications. She suggested the two could make a major announcement within the month.

She did not explain what specifically would be announced. Shytoshi Kusama, Shiba Inu’s chief ambassador, and developer Kaal Dhairya have also not directly confirmed what they would disclose so far, making the remark closer to a preview than an official announcement.

The two have reduced their social media activity in 2026. Shytoshi Kusama’s most recent post on X was on May 13, when he expressed respect for Kaal Dhairya. Kaal Dhairya’s last related post was on July 25, which mentioned SHIB’s price rise.

Bette Kusama’s remarks have therefore renewed interest among SHIB holders. With about 10 days remaining until month-end, the community is watching closely for what the two will release. Expectations have risen further as Bette Kusama called it “big news.”

Attention in and outside the market also aligns with Shytoshi Kusama’s moves this year. He has focused more on completing R.OS, an independent artificial intelligence project, than on Shiba Inu-related discussions. This has also raised questions about whether he will return to the forefront of Shiba Inu development.

For now, it has not been confirmed whether the preview relates to R.OS, Shibarium, SHIB or other ecosystem elements. The nature and scope of the announcement, as well as the actual schedule, are all unclear.

Some observers also say a cautious approach is needed regardless of the community’s expectations. So far, the information disclosed is limited to the possibility that the two developers could make an announcement before month-end and that Bette Kusama called it “big news” and recommended enabling notifications. Until an actual announcement is made, it appears difficult to link expectations for the broader Shiba Inu ecosystem to any specific issue too quickly.
