Nvidia is discussing ways to invest in AI startup Perplexity, Reuters reported on Aug. 24, citing The Information.

Sources said the investment would be carried out as an equity funding round, and Perplexity's valuation is expected to exceed $30 billion.

If the round goes through, Perplexity's valuation would rise by more than 50 percent from a funding round a year earlier.

Perplexity's annualised revenue has increased to more than $750 million recently from less than $250 million earlier this year, The Information reported.

A cloud-based AI agent, Perplexity Computer, which automates computer tasks, drove the revenue growth, The Information added.

Perplexity declined to comment on The Information report, and Nvidia did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Perplexity CEO Aravind Srinivas (아라빈드 스리니바스) said in a June CNBC interview that he plans to go public in 2028, regardless of the outcomes of IPOs by Anthropic and OpenAI. Perplexity's major investors include Nvidia as well as Amazon founder Jeff Bezos and Japan's SoftBank Group.
