[DigitalToday reporter Yoonseo Lee] Anthropic's artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot Claude ranked No. 1 in a UK user satisfaction survey, beating Gemini and ChatGPT.
On Aug. 22 (local time), IT outlet TechRadar reported that Claude posted the highest satisfaction score among major AI chatbots in a YouGov survey.
YouGov compiled UK users' perceptions of AI tools over five months from March 1 to July 31, 2026. In a satisfaction survey of the top 10 AI assistants among current and former users, Claude scored 56.2. Gemini followed with 46.5 and ChatGPT with 46.0. Alexa scored 42.6 and Copilot 37.2, placing them in the middle of the pack. Siri and Elon Musk's Grok recorded relatively low satisfaction.
The survey also presented differences in ratings between current and past users. Claude posted the highest score among past users and the second-highest score among current users.
By contrast, ChatGPT, DeepSeek and Grok showed wide gaps in satisfaction between current and past users. ChatGPT's current-user score was 63.7 points higher than its past-user score, while DeepSeek was 62.5 points higher and Grok was 62.4 points higher. Grok's past-user satisfaction was tallied at minus 4.7 points. The figure shows service loyalty and the assessments of users who left are clearly divided.
The survey did not directly explain usage conditions that affect satisfaction. That means it is difficult to confirm how satisfaction metrics are influenced between easily accessible tools such as Siri or Alexa and tools that users must seek out separately, such as ChatGPT or Claude.
Against this backdrop, the results are read as an indicator of the competitive landscape in the AI chatbot market. Satisfaction was not necessarily high simply because a service is backed by a large platform. While Apple's Siri and Grok remained in the lower ranks, Anthropic's Claude received a relatively leading assessment in terms of user experience.
A satisfaction ranking does not necessarily mean market share or technical performance, and the survey is meaningful in that it evaluates actual usage experience. With Claude receiving high scores from both current and past users, the key question is whether that satisfaction will lead to user retention and an expansion of market share.
