Hana Bank's "Travelog foreign currency account" has surpassed 100,000 accounts about 10 months after its launch.

Hana Bank said on Aug. 24 that subscriptions for the Travelog foreign currency account, a foreign currency demand deposit linked from storage to payment and investment, topped 100,000 accounts.

Launched in September last year, the Travelog foreign currency account is a product that links Hana Financial Group's Travelog overseas travel service with Hana Bank's foreign currency deposits and Hana Securities' overseas stock trading service.

Customers can charge foreign currency held in the account into "Foreign Currency Hana Money" without fees before travel and use it. After travel, they can keep remaining foreign currency in the account without converting it back into won and receive interest.

By linking with Hana Securities, customers can also use foreign currency held in the account to trade overseas stocks.

Of the 58 currencies supported by Travelog, customers can select up to 10 to deposit. The deposit limit is up to $10,000 in total across all currencies.

A Hana Bank official said, "This reflects demand from customers who want to store and invest foreign currency left after travel with flexibility." The official added, "Based on links among group affiliates, we will expand foreign currency financial services that can be used in everyday life."
