XLAITE steps up push into education market with AI interpreting, translation EventCAT

AI simultaneous interpreting and translation company XLAITE said on Feb. 26 it will step up efforts to target the university education market with its real-time AI interpreting and translation solution EventCAT.

XLAITE will expand the scope of applications from this year to cover multilingual real-time subtitles for major lectures and seminars, freshman orientations, admissions briefings at home and abroad, and online and offline consultations, among other areas linked to recruiting and supporting international students.

Its strategy is to highlight core competitive strengths: an in-house AI engine trained on selectively curated expert data accumulated for more than 20 years; automatic chunking technology that continuously processes long sentences in meaning units; and glossaries that pre-train terminology by field.

It plans to place a dedicated team of academic translation experts and AI engineers at universities set to adopt EventCAT. The team will conduct onboarding for key major courses and build glossaries by major, then review expansion by college based on analysis of operational data as it accelerates expansion of global campus infrastructure.

Jung Young-hoon (정영훈), XLAITE's chief executive, said, "In an era of 250,000 international students, language barriers on campus do not mean simple inconvenience but lead to gaps in educational opportunity." He added, "Through EventCAT, we will lower barriers to communication across lectures, talks and campus life overall, and expand cooperation with more educational institutions."
