Rainbow Robotics joined forces with a software company as it seeks to enter the U.S. robot automation market. Rainbow Robotics and Bigwave Robotics said on Wednesday they signed a business agreement to advance into the North American robot market.

The two companies plan to combine Rainbow Robotics’ robot hardware technology with Bigwave Robotics’ software capabilities in robot monitoring and control and data management to offer integrated robot solutions tailored to the U.S. market. Rainbow Robotics will provide a “full-stack robot lineup” that it manufactures and develops in-house, including mobile dual-arm robots, collaborative robots, mobile robots and quadruped walking robots, as well as related APIs and protocols. The two companies plan to focus on expanding supplies in North America of the RB-Y1, a mobile dual-arm robot.

Bigwave Robotics will handle monitoring and on-site operations for automation systems based on Solink, a software platform that integrates monitoring and control of different robots and equipment. It also plans to link DataStudio, a robot data collection and analysis solution, aiming for a lock-in effect that prevents customer churn.

The two companies will develop and commercialise robot solutions tailored to the U.S. market. They will conduct marketing activities through joint participation in major local exhibitions and by sharing potential customer pipelines. They plan to cooperate across the full business process, from proof-of-concept for U.S. customers to on-site setup, remote monitoring and maintenance.

Bigwave Robotics CEO Kim Min-kyo (김민교) said it was meaningful to enter the North American robot automation market, the world’s largest and one showing steep growth, together with Rainbow Robotics, a robot company representing South Korea. He said the company will deliver innovative and sustainable robot value to local North American customers, based on Solink’s strong integrated monitoring capabilities and an advanced operating experience through DataStudio.
