Fortinet has decided to acquire AI security company Virtue AI, SecurityWeek reported on Aug. 18 (local time).

Virtue AI provides an enterprise security and governance platform targeting AI models, conversational applications and autonomous agents, the report said. It supports automated testing, real-time protection and compliance management.

It acts as an automated red team using more than 100 self-developed attack algorithms, hundreds of attack vectors and risk categories to identify vulnerabilities. For agent systems, it simulates dozens of corporate scenarios to assess agent tool use, system access and multi-step execution flows.

Fortinet said the acquisition will strengthen its AI security capabilities across models, applications and agentic systems. It plans to actively apply Virtue AI's agentic system red teaming, agent protection and governance, continuous AI validation and real-time guardrails functions to its existing platform.

Virtue AI previously raised $30 million in seed and Series A funding in 2025.

Ken Xie (켄 시에), Fortinet's founder and CEO, said, "AI is fundamentally transforming enterprise computing environments, and security must evolve just as quickly." He said, "Virtue AI's technology will advance our vision of continuous AI assurance, helping enterprises manage and protect AI systems across the full lifecycle while operating them with confidence at enterprise scale."
