[Digital Today reporter Yoonseo Lee] Global cryptocurrency exchange Binance will stop trading in seven spot trading pairs, including APT/BTC and AR/BTC, on Aug. 14 (local time).
Blockchain media outlet U.Today reported on Aug. 12 that the move followed the results of a regular review. Binance said it would remove pairs with low liquidity and trading volume to maintain market quality.
The pairs to be terminated are APT/BTC, AR/BTC, A/USDC, BTTC/TRY, CYBER/USDC, LPT/BTC and WAL/FDUSD. Trading will stop on Aug. 14. Binance said it periodically reviews all listed spot trading pairs and may delist some depending on factors such as insufficient liquidity and weak trading volume.
Binance said the removal of the pairs does not mean ending support for spot trading in the tokens themselves. Users can continue trading the same base and quote assets through other pairs on Binance. The impact is therefore limited to specific market combinations.
Spot trading bot services applied to those pairs will also end. Binance told users to update or cancel their bots before the service ends. It warned that potential losses may occur if users do not take action in advance.
Binance also plans to further delist all spot trading pairs for six cryptocurrencies later this month. Binance decided after a recent review to delist all spot trading pairs for Across (ACX), Hashflow (HFT), PIVX, Vulcan Forged (PYR), Vanar (VANRY) and Viction (VIC) on Aug. 17. Unlike the earlier move, which targets some pairs, spot trading in these six tokens will be fully halted.
Deposits of the six cryptocurrencies made after 3 a.m. on Aug. 18 will not be credited to accounts, and withdrawals will not be supported after 3 a.m. on Oct. 17. Binance also recently added Moonbeam (GLMR), ICON (ICX), Moonriver (MOVR), SuperRare (RARE) and Sophon (SOPH) to its monitoring tag list.
Binance will also carry out wallet maintenance for the Tron network (TRX) on Aug. 13. Deposits and withdrawals of Tron network-based tokens will be temporarily suspended ahead of the maintenance, which is expected to last about 1 hour. Binance plans to resume deposits and withdrawals without a separate notice once it determines the network is operating stably.
With these moves, Binance will carry out in succession the removal of some spot trading pairs, the delisting of specific tokens, an expansion of monitoring targets and network maintenance. As the timing and scope differ by measure, users need to check separately whether trading has been halted and the schedule for deposit and withdrawal support.
