The public and private sectors will support both restaurant small business owners who have kept prices steady despite high inflation and consumers. Woowa Brothers, which operates Baedal Minjok, said on Aug. 10 it signed a business agreement with the Ministry of the Interior and Safety to help activate good price restaurants. Good price restaurants are shops that offer low prices, a clean hygiene environment and friendly service. The ministry and local governments provide incentives such as public utility fee reductions and supplies support to these shops.
The agreement was designed to provide opportunities to expand sales for restaurant owners who have maintained prices amid high inflation caused by rising raw material costs and to add discount benefits for consumers, helping ease the burden of prices. Baemin will offer first-come, first-served 3,000 won discount coupons that can be used for delivery orders from good price restaurants from Aug. 17 to Sept. 13.
Baemin plans to intensively promote good price restaurants by displaying banners on "Together Store", an online sales channel support page for small merchants, so customers can easily find nearby good price restaurants. The page is operated to support the expansion of online sales channels for local small businesses. The agreement will further strengthen customer inflows to good price restaurants.
Yoon Seokjun (윤석준), head president of Woowa Brothers' Brand Communication Strategy Division, said he hopes the agreement will help the efforts of owners who have kept menu prices steady despite high inflation reach more customers through Baemin. He added that the company will continue to seek public-private cooperation models that jointly address stable management for small business owners and easing consumers' burden from prices.
